Restoration of paintings
There are 2 types of restoration: paintings on woven carriers and paintings on wooden or metallic carriers.

1. Paintings on woven carriers
Jute, cotton and linnen are the most common. Only a small quantity of old paintings are still on their original carrier.
- Possible damage: the canvas has become smaller, the canvas has become weaker, loss of tension, biological damages (eg. mould).
- Restoration: repairing tears, strip-lining, removing older repairs and glue, levelling the canvas.
A full report concerning the paint,groundlayer, varnish etc is made before any action is taken.
2. Paintings on wooden or metallic carriers
Wooden and metallic panels, were very common during The 16-17th century.
- Restoration: breaches can be repaired, removal of old repairs and glue, touch-up.
- If required: UV and IR examination can be executed, or a microscopic examination.
